POE Unit 0 • Lesson 0.12

Aerospace Readiness Mini-Challenge: Build, Test & Reflect

Build, test, document, and reflect on a small aerospace support system to demonstrate readiness for POE project work.

Lesson Snapshot

Student Objective

I can build, test, document, and reflect on a small aerospace support system.

Main Activity

Team build/test cycle, documentation, mini design review, and readiness reflection.

Deliverable

Final notebook entry plus mini design review

Tools / Materials

Approved tools/materials, notebook, camera or screenshot evidence, test setup

1ProblemUnderstand the challenge and why it matters.

A prototype is only useful when it is tested and documented. Today your team will use the plan from Lesson 0.11 to show that you can work safely and produce evidence from a simple build.

2ConceptLearn the engineering idea or skill.

Testing should connect directly to the original criteria. Good reflection explains what worked, what did not, what changed during the build, and what the team would improve next.

3ApplyUse the skill in a guided task.

Build the mini-challenge prototype using approved tools and materials. Test it against your criteria, collect simple evidence, and prepare a short design review explaining your result.

4DocumentRecord your evidence and decisions.

Create a final notebook entry with photos or sketches, test results, changes made during building, and a brief reflection. Include what your team learned about safety, planning, tools, or documentation.

5ReviewCheck quality and identify your next step.

Complete a mini design review. Be ready to explain the problem, design features, test result, limitation, and one improvement you would make with more time.
