Put the instructions in executable order, then choose where the most important alignment checkpoint belongs.

  1. Secure the connection using the specified fastener and torque/hand-tight instruction.
  2. Inspect parts and confirm item numbers, orientation marks, and mating surfaces.
  3. Verify alignment, retention, and free movement or fit after assembly.
  4. Insert the mating component while maintaining the reference orientation.
  5. Align the keyed tab, centerline, or reference marks before insertion.

  1. List the required tools, materials, and components before Step 1.
  2. Write numbered steps using one action per step and the established item names or numbers.
  3. Add orientation cues, cautions, and completion checks where mistakes are likely.
  4. Have another team perform a dry run, then revise the unclear steps.

Quality check: The instructions must be executable in order and include checks before any irreversible action.
