Select and Verify Measurement Tools

Measure assigned rocket or classroom features with the tool best suited to each measurement type.

  1. Classify each feature as an outside, inside, depth, thickness, length, or diameter measurement.
  2. Select a ruler or caliper and state why it fits the feature.
  3. Collect three readings using the same unit and correct technique.
  4. Compare the readings and identify the measurement with the greatest variation.

Quality check: Report only the precision supported by the selected tool and include units with every value.

What You Will Submit

Measurement Tool Investigation

Submit one data table and one evidence-based conclusion.

  • One measurement table listing the feature, measurement type, tool, unit, and three trials.
  • One short conclusion explaining which tool choice or technique produced the most reliable result.

Submission standard: Verify caliper zero before use and do not report unsupported decimal places.
