ADM-4.2 • Aerospace Mission

Lightweight Bracket Optimization

Reduce the estimated mass of an aerospace bracket while preserving interfaces, wall thickness, edge distance, and machinability.

Safety and Application Boundary

This component is an educational manufacturing prototype. It is not approved for installation on a crewed aircraft, operational aircraft, or flight-critical system. Any real aerospace application would require additional engineering analysis, material certification, process control, inspection, documentation, and regulatory approval.

Challenge work involving machine code, CAM, workholding, or equipment must be reviewed before any physical machine operation.

Mission sequence

Complete the Challenge

  1. 1
Start from the provided bracket interface and stock.
  2. 2
Create at least three weight-reduction concepts.
  3. 3
Check wall thickness, edge distance, internal radii, workholding, and inspection.
  4. 4
Compare estimated mass and material removal.
  5. 5
    Recommend the strongest manufacturable concept.
