Aerospace Academy

Academy of Advanced Aerospace Engineering

A four-year engineering pathway connecting engineering design, systems, aerospace engineering, flight training, competitions, certifications, electives, and senior capstone work.

Four-Year Pathway

Build skills year by year

Students progress from engineering design fundamentals into engineering systems, aerospace engineering, and senior capstone-level work. Advanced Manufacturing is available as an elective within the pathway.

9

Introduction to Engineering Design

Technical communication, sketching, CAD, fabrication, assemblies, testing, and engineering documentation.

Foundation
10

Principles of Engineering

Mechanisms, structures, materials, control systems, VEX systems, analysis, and increasingly open-ended design work.

Systems
11

Aerospace Engineering

Aircraft and spacecraft systems, aerodynamics, propulsion, flight, aerospace design, analysis, and increasingly authentic aerospace engineering applications.

Senior Capstone & Advanced Study

Independent engineering work, portfolio development, advanced electives, mentorship or industry-connected experiences, and the senior capstone.

Capstone
Engineering Elective

Advanced Manufacturing

Students may take Advanced Manufacturing as an elective to build experience with automation, Python, industrial robotics, production systems, manufacturing documentation, inspection, and digital workflows.

Open ADM
Credentials

Certification Pathway

Fusion credential, FabLab safety, FAA TRUST, OSHA-10, CPR/First Aid, Lean Six Sigma White Belt, and later FAA Part 107 opportunities.

Aerospace Training

Cirrus G7 Flight Simulator

Students complete orientation, guided 30-minute flight lessons, Free Flight practice, and maintain a paper flight record.

Open Simulator Hub
Technical Reference

Aerospace Reference Center

Search flight and aerospace acronyms, review aerodynamics, navigation, avionics, weather, propulsion, aircraft systems, and space systems in one professional reference hub.

Open Reference Center
Competition

Robotics & Drone Team

Students can apply engineering skills through drone competition, robotics, design showcases, and other team-based challenges.

Academy Distinction

What students work toward

  • Complete the engineering course sequence.
  • Complete a senior capstone.
  • Participate in at least one competition, showcase, internship, mentorship, or presentation experience.
  • Maintain appropriate conduct and academic standing.
College & Career Connections

Beyond the classroom

The pathway is designed to connect students with engineering, aviation, manufacturing, and technical career opportunities while building a portfolio of authentic work.

Partnership and postsecondary connections include opportunities associated with Embry-Riddle, UCF, Valencia College, and industry/community partners.
